Oh my.....

Has it really been this long? The details are still tripping me up, but one big thing has been accomplished. I'm now in possession of EQ6 and am working my way through the lessons to make sure I take full advantage of what it can do.

Of course, I couldn't resist putting in a couple of patterns I'm working on just to see how it works and how they look. I was concerned that the process of putting them in would be tedious, but it was mesmerizing and quite a lot of fun.

I'm also in the process of setting up my store page, a tab for which is at the top of this blog. I'm hoping in the next few months to be much farther along in this process!

Here is another teaser!

The Devil is in the Details

It doesn't seem like it should be this difficult to get things up and running. I suppose part of the problem is how much else there is to do every day. Things that leave me in a quandry wait while I mull them over and I'm getting stuck in some of the details.

One such detail should be working itself out soon. I'm working on a quilting job for a friend and the proceeds for that will buy the program I need to be able to import pictures of pattern elements into the written text...I hope.

I have a string of pattern designs in waiting and hope soon to offer them as downloads that you can print on your own as well as printed patterns for those without print capabilities.

My next week or so will be spent finishing up that job, working on pattern instructions, and pulling out the design pad and pencils in hopes of coming up with a couple more ideas. Hopefully before long the design pad will only be needed when I want to draw on the go!

The plan is to have some things in each stage of development...the design phase, pattern writing and prep, and sample making. I'll need to learn how to schedule myself to keep everything running smoothly.

For now, here is a peek at a coming design.

A Slow Start

At least, slower than I expected. One doesn't realize how much time real life takes until trying to carve out space for something that takes a lot of time and attention. Somehow blogging seems to be an easy thing to put off, even though, like most people, I like hearing myself "talk."

The new patterns are coming along and soon there will be a couple of baby quilts showing for sale. I'm saving my pennies for some things that will help move things along and make them easier. For now, much is done the old fashioned way.

My design pad holds several quilt designs that I can hardly wait to get into pattern form. I'm learning the ropes on the first couple of them and hoping that makes the process move along more quickly in the future. Right now I have designs lined up like planes on a runway, waiting for their turn to soar.

So I grow in baby steps, so anxious to run but knowing skipping steps can mean trouble.

Enough philosophy, it's time to quilt!

Beginning at the Beginning

Where does one begin when starting a new venture? This one began by accident several weeks ago when I drew out a new pattern and emailed it to a friend for her opinion. It's public beginning is right here, on this very empty blog page. One that I hope is soon filled with tips and tricks, answers to questions, services to offer and quilts and patterns for sale.

Right this minute, it's a place for the ramblings of someone who is excited at the prospect of this new venture and, at the same time, wondering what in the world she's gotten herself into. Hopefully, it will be sorted out here and, before too long, I will sound much less confused and have a lot more to offer.

For now, I say Thank You for taking this journey with me.
And, as always,
Happy Quilting!
